Dias Kadyrbayev, aged 24, was flown on a commercial plane on October 23 and arrived in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on October 24, the US Immigration Service said in a statement last week.

Kadyrbayev pleaded guilty in August 2014 for moving items from Tsarnaev’s room after a bombing, including a laptop and a backpack containing explosives, when police were searching for Tsarnaev and his brother Tamerlan.

The student who was friendly with Tsarnaev at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth served a prison sentence of more than 5 years after he was found guilty of attempting to block law enforcement related to the investigation into the bombing.

Three people were killed in the attack on April 15, 2013. The Tsarnaev brothers later became fugitives. Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed by police while on the run, while Dzokhar Tsarnaev was arrested.
